Happy Christmas!
Queanbeyan Quilters wish all our members and readers of the blog and their families a safe, happy Christmas and a fruitful, inspirational and wonderful New Year 2017.
Christmas Dinner and Life Member recognised
This year our Christmas dinner was held at the newly refurbished Hotel Queanbeyan who gave us a room to ourselves and delivered lovely food to a lively, hungry group of quilters. We were able to keep track of the cricket live from Manuka Oval and altogether had a delightful evening.
This was the sunset we saw from our windows, not quite as spectacular as that shown from Manuka Oval but they had several technical advantages!
Bryony presented the certificate and badge to our new life-member Joan Jackson for her significant contribution to the establishment of the club, the running of it and her teaching skills which have benefitted so many members over the years. A well-deserved honour which we were happy to witness.

Each month there will be another set and at each meeting, people will bring along what they have made to show us. Hopefully by the next Exhibition we put on, in April 2018, there will be some delightful new pieces based upon the Monthly Inspirations.

SES Community Challenge
This year, Queanbeyan Quilters decided to run a community challenge to benefit the Queanbeyan SES Unit. Members got busy sewing and coming up with ideas to reflect the work that the SES carries out. On Opening night we were lucky to have the SES Local Controller, Robert Cuneen and the SES Public Information Officer, Brent Hunter, the Palerang SES Local Controller, Lloyd Meehan plus two members of the Queanbeyan SES Unit, Anna Lukasiewicz and Cassandra Philpot. Also in attendance was the liberal Federal Member for Eden-Monaro, Dr Peter Hendy.
Here are some pictures of the SES Challenge display.
